Control

Short campaign film

Synopsis

A tense and poignant film raising awareness around the subject of Coercive Control. In which Stephanie, an independent woman, relives her experience of abuse. She recounts her journey reliving those seemingly wonderful early days where Robert, a charming man, treated her better than anyone had before, showering her with gifts. But looking back, she realises these could have been red flags.

Their relationship grows quickly and Robert suggests they move in together. After doing so,  Stephanie starts to lose her agency, becoming isolated and cut off from her friends & family.

Stephanie learns that she isn’t the only one who is a victim of Coercion and the abuse she suffered wasn’t her fault. She begins to put her life back together, regaining her autonomy and building a better future for herself.

The project

Produced as part of the crime prevention A.C.T.I.O.N project, by the non profit organisation Heart of Pitsea. This film was produced to raise awareness around the subject of Coercive Control.

In this story we follow Stephanie, as she recalls her relationship with her abuser Robert.

Throughout the film she relives her experience of abuse, recounting those seemingly wonderful early days but seeing it quickly turn into a relationship where she was forced to be isolated from her friends & family, becoming solely dependent on Robert.

Stephanie learns that she isn’t alone as a victim of Coercion and the abuse she suffered wasn’t her fault. A story that is sadly all too true for many individuals around the country.
